The overall look of the film is lackluster, the characters are thinly imagined, and the dialogue is oddly obscure in a movie intended for children.

Your mileage with her film will likely depend on how much you vibe with the tropes of either genre, and also how much of your brain you want to check at the door.  

“Queen of the Ring” might not be a story we know, but we can relate.

It is most difficult to quantify a movie’s worth and value when you understand its mission yet wince at its execution.

“Picture This” is a rom-com that’s more effective as com than rom, with several big laughs and a thoroughly winning lead performance from Simone Ashley.

For fans of 2019’s “Parasite,” “Mickey 17” may feel like a disappointment.

Ashcroft crudely shifts between black comedy and disturbing violence, rather than accomplishing the more difficult task of combining the two into one nauseating, yet undeniably thrilling sensation. 

This is an ambitious first film that is impressive in its ability to create an entire world with its own atmosphere and drop the viewer right into it.

All in all, “Toxic Town” makes for a harrowing watch.

There doesn’t seem to be a single original bone in this film’s body.
