Mandalorian Season 3 Reshoots Confirmed By Bo-Katan Actor

Bo-Katan Kryze actor Katee Sackhoff seemingly confirms that she was recently involved in reshoots for The Mandalorian season 3. First released in 2019, The Mandalorian has since become one of the Disney+ service’s most popular series. The show introduces audiences to new corners of the vast Star Wars universe as Pedro Pascals’ titular character undertakes a series of adventures with Grogu (aka Baby Yoda). The Mandalorian season 2 concluded back in December of 2020, but Pascal’s character also played a prominent role in The Book of Boba Fett, a Star Wars series that has ultimately proven much more divisive.

Sackhoff’s Bo-Katan first appeared in animated form in Star Wars: The Clone Wars and later Star Wars Rebels, but the character made her live-action debut in The Mandalorian season 2. Much remains unknown about Bo-Katan’s role in season 3, but creator and head writer Jon Favreau has already teased that the dynamic between the Mandalorian and Sackhoff’s character will be a primary focus. The Mandalorian season 3 isn’t expected to hit Disney+ until early next year, but footage shown at the Star Wars Celebration 2022 event has already teased some of what is to come, including the Mandalorian and Grogu returning to Mandalore.

Sackhoff was scheduled to appear at Fan Expo Denver over the weekend, but had to cancel at the last minute. In a new video posted to her Instagram, Sackhoff teases that the sudden cancelation was due to reshoots for The Mandalorian season 3 that ran late. While the actor doesn’t explicitly state that the show in question is The Mandalorian, she signs off from the video by saying “This is the Way,” a reference to the strict moral code that Mandalorians must follow.

Sackhoff doesn’t reveal any details regarding what audiences can expect from Bo-Katan in The Mandalorian season 3, but the actor does tease that fans “are really going to like what we were working on.” Sackhoff has previously stated that season 3 will see Bo-Katan continuing to discover who she is, while footage from the upcoming season has also hinted that her character could occupy more of a villain role this time around. With Bo-Katan having demonstrated her combat prowess in season 2 and with Din Djarin now standing between her and the Dark Saber, The Mandalorian season 3 could certainly feature a major confrontation between the pair.

Although many consider reshoots to be a cause for concern, they are a regular part of the filmmaking process, especially in projects as grand in scale as those in the vast Star Wars universe. Be it further fleshing out emotional beats or adding connective tissue between scenes, The Mandalorian‘s reshoots will undoubtedly only serve to make the popular show’s upcoming installment even stronger. Although it will be more than six months before audiences can see The Mandalorian season 3, Sackhoff certainly seems confident that it will be worth the wait.
