RHOA: Jeannie Mai Denies Rumors She’s Replacing Kandi Burruss

Jeannie Mai Jenkins, a co-host on The Real, addressed rumors that she may be joining the cast of The Real Housewives of Atlanta. The star started off her career as a MAC cosmetics makeup artist and used her connection with celebrity clients to become more successful in the entertainment industry. Eventually, Jeannie was able to land herself on a show called How Do I Look? where she gave featured guests a new style and makeover. This show went on to have two spin-off shows. From this point, the star appeared on several talk shows to provide her expert fashion opinion, and she even landed movie roles. Her time on The Real is one of her longest roles, but the talk show was recently canceled after eight seasons.

While Jeannie was on maternity leave, it was rumored that she would be replacing Kandi Burruss in RHOA season 15 because Kandi had an allegedly lackluster season. Sources said that Kandi and newcomer Sanya Richards-Ross did not add much to season 14, while Marlo Hampton, Drew Sidora, Kenya Moore and Sheree-Whitfield held their ground. Because of this, it was rumored that Bravo was looking for stars to replace Kandi and Sanya to help boost ratings for RHOA season 15. Kandi initially responded to the rumors and said she was not being replaced but would not mind having Jeannie on the show.

Now Jeannie is addressing the rumors, saying that she was never set to join the show and considers the idea crazy, according to E! News. She said, “I literally was just over here having a baby and I’m hearing these rumors. I was like, ‘Where? How am I going to go from this into that because that’s a full-time job?’Jeannie said that neither she nor her team has been in contact with Bravo, so there was no possibility of her being on the show. “I love all you ladies, but no, that is literally–do you know when they say where’s there’s smoke, there’s fire? That was a complete rumor,” said the talk show host. Kenya Moore, a longtime housewife on RHOA, was involved in the conversation and she admitted to hearing the rumor and thinking that Jeannie would be a great addition to the show.

Kenya took her thought a step further and even said that Jeannie could join the show as her friend. The talk show host spoke to Garcelle Beauvais, a housewife on RHOBH, about what being a housewife is like, and Garcelle mentioned that it was a lot of work and essentially a full-time job. Jeannie is not unfamiliar with working hard, but she said she is currently focusing on being a mother and will leave the reality TV world to the current housewives. Jeannie also referenced former RHOA housewife NeNe Leakes by saying, “The door is closed. It’s sealed. There wasn’t a door to begin with. It was a wall. There is no door.”

Fans have the opportunity to determine whether Kandi’s appearance in The Real Housewives of Atlanta season 14 is truly lackluster as new episodes are still airing. If any of the rumors were true that Kandi would be replaced, it would not affect her financially as Bravo just aired her spinoff show, Kandi & The Gang, and there is a possibility the network will renew the show for a second season. Additionally, Kandi and her husband, Todd Tucker, will be co-producing a Broadway play called The Piano Lesson. For Jeannie, her hands are also full as she is hosting ABC’s Holey Moley.
